What they say about us

A SMALL SELECTION OF COMMENTS FROM STUDENTS AND PARENTS DOWN THE YEARS

Thanks so much for all the work you both put in with all the extra lessons. It really paid off especially with biology coming from a C to an A, rescuing my maths which could have been a disaster and pushing on my chemistry. Have decided against the dentistry and am thinking of doing chemical engineering at university. I Haven’t quite decided yet though…

Rose, Thame

My son John E had some extra coaching in Physics and Chemistry with your college this Easter. His predicted grades were D in each before: he managed an A for Physics and A* for Chemistry. One of the tutors also kindly arranged some Russian conversation for him: he managed an A* for Russian. Although he does attend [name of school removed], and already had three subjects at A* from the previous year (Latin, Greek and French) so perhaps he is not quite the run of the mill student, I think your college can take a good deal of credit for these spectacular results.[…]. Please do pass on the good news to those concerned: they did a great deal of work for this!

Mrs B, Oxford

Many thanks for your help – I know she has spoken to you – we were delighted with her results and hopefully her confidence will grow!

Mrs S, Oxford

I now have 3 As in English, Dutch and Maths and a B in History. This means I have met all my university offers and I will be going to read English and Politics at York University in September! […] I am absolutely sure that I would never have been able to get an A in Maths without your tuition so I really want to thank you for all you help and patience! I hope you (and all the other tutors) are well and that you are happy to hear this news.

Daisy, Oxford

I would like to say a really big thank you for getting S well on the way with her maths at Easter. Her AS results came out today and she received an A. [She got] 91 out of 100 in her core maths and 81 in mechanics. She is really excited. Many thanks again!

Mrs L, Gloucestershire

Thank you for all the tuition that you gave Lottie with her Chemistry. I am delighted, but still very pleasantly surprised, that she got a B. How she managed it I do not know. I am sure that all your help was invaluable. You may have heard that she has been offered a place at Leeds , for 2010. Once again many thanks for all your help which I feel did the trick.

Mr G, Banbury

I don’t know if Catherine has already updated you but, if not, just to let you know she got a place at Cambridge […] so many thanks for your contribution to this.

Mr P, Oxfordshire

I found Oxford Science and Maths Tutors after a web search and will be eternally grateful. I have three boys who are all quite sharp but were not achieving their potential. The tutor developed a rapport with them and was quick to assess their individual needs. He was equally good at steady reinforcement and confidence building as he was at identifying key areas that needed clarification and not labouring the points. In short, the individualised approach worked magic. Many thanks from us all.

Mrs M, Buckinghamshire

Zaid came personally recommended to us and has proved to be excellent. He assessed our son’s ability & learning style very quickly, and the gaps in his knowledge. Zaid got our son both engaged and motivated in a way that school had failed to do. He takes a personal interest in his students doing well and will fit in extra sessions with them at strategic points in the year even though he has many other students. He is also thoroughly familiar with the examining boards and able to advise competently in what order re-sits should be tackled, willingly providing advice for parents.

Mrs S, Oxford

Our daughter didn’t have the opportunity to sit A-levels in 2020 due to the Covid pandemic, and didn’t receive the assessed grades that she was hoping for from her sixth form college. Having deferred her university application for a year, she needed tuition to obtain A-grades in biology and psychology, as well as more general support and advice to manage her university application and to understand how she would sit her A-levels as an external candidate.
We were delighted to find Oxford Science and Maths Tutors and felt we were in safe hands from the start. The quality of the online tuition from Zaid (biology) and Alex (psychology) was outstanding, and our daughter built strong relationships with her tutors through twice-weekly online sessions. She enjoyed her online sessions and really benefitted from a one-on-one approach. Online tuition worked seamlessly through video calls, and was made easier and more productive through use of technology such as digital notepads. Our daughter really embraced this new technology to the extent that all her revision and note-taking was done digitally. Her knowledge, self-learning skills and exam technique all improved massively through the year, and as parents we received regular feedback on her progress.

Rob and Zaid’s guidance and support on the UCAS application and taking exams as an external candidate was also invaluable. In the end, the 2021 summer exam series was cancelled, but we had already discussed a contingency plan to ensure our daughter received a centre-assessed grade through multiple assessments and mock exams. She was delighted to be awarded A* in both subjects and is now looking forward to studying pharmacology at university.
In short, the team at Oxford Science and Maths Tutors provide the highest quality of academic, administrative and pastoral support, and I can’t recommend them highly enough.
